SUMMARY: Keeps the school building in a state of operating excellence to prevent problems or interruptions to the educational program.
EDUCATION/LICENSE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS;
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, and multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING SKILLS: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all corporation requirements and policies.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

EDUCATION/LICENSE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS;
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to operate or learn to operate necessary equipment.
- Such additional qualifications as the Board or State of Indiana shall require.
- Maintains inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment etc in the building.
- Performs ongoing preventive maintenance and minor repair on plumbing, custodial equipment, buildings structures and hardware.
- Performs normal operator adjustments, and service to facility equipment.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Assists visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within the building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment.
- Assists the maintenance director in scheduling and assigning extra time for custodians as needed.
- Maintains building and grounds security by opening the building each school day and closing the building each night. Periodically checks doors to make sure they are locked.
- Reports any unauthorized individuals or activity on school property to the proper school authorities or law enforcement.
- Maintains work related records and prepares various reports as directed.
- Shovels snow and cleans sidewalks when necessary.
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality.
- Maintains professional appearance and behavior while on duty.
- Ensures own regular and prompt attendance.
- Effectively completes regular and other job performance criteria as assigned.
- Promotes good public relations for the school district and community.
- Remains free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other duties and responsibilities as the Principal and Maintenance Director may assign.
