SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:
Diagnosticians participate in child find activities for students in the Indianapolis Public Schools. Administer and interpret various assessments, including but not limited to measures of academic achievement, developmental rating scales, adaptive rating scales, and complete systematic observations in all educational settings. Diagnosticians are expected to maintain records of any/all assessments and observations throughout the academic year and prepare and submit reports of these findings to the evaluating psychologist in a timely manner to maintain legal time limits for completing assessments.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Core Duties And Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments of adaptive and academic functioning adhering to the appropriate timelines
- Collaborate with teacher and other school personnel on methods to enhance student’s educational performance [e.g. assist with writing Individual Education Plans (IEP), conducting Functional behavior Assessments (FBA) and developing Behavior intervention Plans (BIP)]
- Complete systematic observations of students in the academic and social settings
- Interpret and write up the results of observations and testing and send to the school psychologist in a timely manner
- Gather educational records
- Performs any other duties as assigned
On a regular day, as a Diagnostician, you might:
- Conduct observations of students within the general education environment
- Conduct academic assessments
- Consult with a special education teacher to help strength an IEP or complete an FBA
As an ideal candidate for this role, you will be able to achieve the following:
- Demonstrates knowledge of applicable Federal and State special education law
- Maintain and submit accurate records while handling information in a private and confidential manner
- Ability to work on multiple projects with multiple staff across preschool – 12th grade
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s Degree and an active Indiana teaching license. Special Education Licensure preferred
- Minimum of five years teaching experience, preferably at least 1 year in Special Education.
- Possess a basic knowledge of special education laws and regulations and can follow developed procedures.
