Long Term Substitute Teacher (Science)

LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE TEACHER (SCIENCE)

REPORTS TO: Junior-Senior High School Administration

PAY TYPE: Certified, Non-Supervisory

PAY RATE: Initial substitute daily pay rate (starting at $145 per day) for the first 15 consecutive days, followed by daily rate based upon the WLCSC Master Teacher Contract (see attachment)

BENEFITS: TRF-eligible; No other benefits offered

SCHEDULE: 183 Days; Follows school calendar

Duties And Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and team-teaches the instruction program according to the adopted curriculum for a junior-senior high school science classroom while the permanent teacher is on leave
• Demonstrates effective classroom management and instructional skills to ensure a positive learning environment
• Implements appropriate lesson plans and adapts teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
  
  

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

• Education, Training, and Experience Required:
• Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
• Valid Indiana Secondary Teacher's License (preferred licensure in Science)
• Displays excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
• Experience working in a school environment preferred
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
• Displays positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Ability to work as a team with other staff
• Displays dependability and punctuality
• Preferred willingness to sponsor an extracurricular group/team
  
  

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Position works indoors in a typical school classroom environment
• May work near others, often within a few feet
• May occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
