This role serves as the school's advocate and works with all stakeholders to create a common vision for the school that best positions the school for success and engages students and their community. The principal also works with others to develop and execute a school improvement plan and allocates resources to continually improve student achievement. The principal is also committed to building a talented team to create a safe, engaging learning environment.

Core Duties And Responsibilities
- Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of efforts related to student academic achievement, including reducing the disproportional gap.
- Ensures that the school meets or makes satisfactory progress towards both District and the goals in the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP).
- Supervises and evaluates school staff; models District standards of ethics and professionalism.
- Builds a common vision and executes a strategic plan that increases student achievement and drives instructional excellence
- Builds an environment that fosters collaboration and continuous improvement with a talented, aligned team focused on student achievement
- Manages school financial, physical, and personnel resources to support optimal instruction
- Serves as the school's advocate and regularly communicates with all stakeholders
- Ensures that the school program is compatible with the legal, financial, and organizational structure of the school system.

- Successful experiences working with a diverse population of students and faculty
- Language Ability. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, parents, and students of IPS.
- Math Ability. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Applicable Indiana Administration and Supervision license.
- Master's degree.
- A minimum of three years' teaching experience and experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
