POSITION: Science Teacher - Central High School
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
START DATE: Upon Board Approval
JOB SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be qualified and comfortable supporting students through the introduction and mastery of the content and skills in one or more science courses. Life Science/Biology license required.
Required Qualifications
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; hear and understand speech at normal levels; physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to angry students/parents and neighborhoods considered to have high levels of violence potential.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Secondary Education Degree
- Valid Teaching Certificate to teach in appropriate grade/subject
- Teaches District approved curriculum
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Creates lesson plans
- Experience with Skyward student management
- Create a flexible program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth
- Motivate students to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing education
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and-in harmony with the goals-establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students
- Diagnoses and assist with the learning disabilities of students
- Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports and daily lesson plans
- Responds to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents, and guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.
- Collaborate with other teachers, administrators to address instructional and classroom issues.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school duties.
