Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Commit to implement differentiated instruction, including Three Tier Instruction, whole
- Maintain control that is conducive to student, classroom and campus safety
- Complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification and regularly practice
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional support responsibilities.
- Under a teacher's supervision, plans, prepares and develops various teaching aids, such as
- May support activities of daily living including, toileting, feeding and diapering.
- Monitors students in the classroom, cafeteria, on the playground and in the community.
- Provide support for students as planned by professional staff (teachers, therapists, social
- Follow team prescribed procedures for academic, social, communication and behavioral
- Maintain confidentiality of records of students served and their progress
- Assist in the collection and compilation of student, parent, teacher and community data
- Attend professional meetings
- Discuss pupils' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with teacher
- Administer frequent assessments to evaluate students' continuous progress.
- Analyze data - evaluate student work and assessment data to make instructional
- Other duties as assigned
On a regular day, as the Special Education Instructional Assistant you might:
- Provide instructional interventions under the direction of a licensed teacher that
- Help prepare students for formal and informal assessments
- Administer achievement tests and evaluates test results to discover the level of language
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities related to monitoring students' behavior and
- Keep attendance and grade records as required by the school
- Work collaboratively with other staff
