SUMMARY Performs regular teacher's class plan while teacher is absent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Others duties may be assigned.
- Assumes the responsibilities for instructing classes when a teacher is absent.
- Assumes all other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent.
- Prepares lesson plans with assistance, as directed by an administrator, when plans are not available in the classroom.
- Maintains appropriate records including checking test papers, recording grades, recording student records for a teachers who is absent.
- Provides for individualized and small group assistance for students as indicated by lesson plans.
- Follow rules, regulations, emergency procedures and policies to which regular teachers are subject and with good teaching practices dictated.
- Remains in assigned classroom until all students have been dismissed in the room.
- Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class and surrounding areas.
- Reviews with the Principal all plans, duties, and schedules and teaches lessons outlined by the teacher.
- Consults with the Principal before initiating any teaching or procedure not specified in the absent teacher's lesson plan.
- Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom as much as possible.
- Maintains appropriate appearance and ensures regular and prompt attendance.
- Effectively completes regular and other job performance criteria as assigned.
- Promotes good public relations for the school corporation and community.
- Remains free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Substitute teacher's license as issued by the State Department of Education.
