The purpose of the Substitute Teacher is to ensure that in the absence of the regular classroom
teacher, students continue to receive a quality education.

The purpose of the Substitute Teacher is to ensure that in the absence of the regular classroom
teacher, students continue to receive a quality education.
- Provide students with an education in a safe and orderly environment
- Carry out the classroom teachers lessons to the extent possible
- Communicate with the building administrator
- Treat all students with respect
- Keep assignments and attendance records
- Be familiar with emergency plans, fire exits and severe weather procedures
- Arrive to the classroom at least 15 minutes prior to the children arriving
- Have a minimum of a high school diploma
- Possess a valid Indiana Substitute Permit
- Have the empathy, compassion and skills to effectively work with all students
- Complete a satisfactory interview with the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
