Full-Time Lecturer

The Department of Communications invites applications for a Daily Titan Advertising Adviser / Full-Time Lecturer with appointment starting Fall 2025. The successful candidate will teach an equivalent of 15 weighted teaching units (WTUs) each semester (i.e., a full-time position) to be fulfilled through teaching units and to oversee Daily Titan business operations.
Position
The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the advertising, marketing, and distribution teams, ensuring all new student team members are properly trained, and coordinating the financial and operational aspects of the Daily Titan. This role involves attending sales and marketing trainings, processing paperwork for student scholarships, and conducting regular check-ins with student team members. Additionally, the adviser supports the sales and marketing teams by setting sales goals, holding regular meetings, and addressing client questions. They also work closely with the student employee accountant to ensure proper training and review of financial reports, as well as with national brokers who require a higher level of documentation and analytics at the end of their clients’ campaigns. Administrative duties include coordinating with university departments, organizing student workshops, submitting budget proposals, and other duties necessary to operate a successful student publication within a public university environment. The candidate may be expected to teach occasional evening and online classes.
During the summer, the adviser finalizes recruitment efforts for the fall semester, oversees summer student staff activities, and ensures all client contracts are fulfilled. They work with national brokers on campaign documentation, reconcile budgets, and process financial paperwork. The adviser also submits award entries, coordinates training workshops, and updates the Daily Titan media kit. Summer work is a separate appointment with additional compensation.
This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders including the editor-in-chief and newsroom / editorial faculty adviser to ensure the smooth operation of the Daily Titan.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in mass communication / advertising or a closely related field.
- Three or more years of professional experience in advertising, advertising sales or related field.
- Proficiency in assessing media pricing and updating marketing materials.
- Dedication to leading and mentoring students, student development, and educational excellence.
- Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and coordinating expenses.
- Familiarity with advertising or sales software such as CRM databases.
- Ability to work effectively with various departments and stakeholders.
- Aptitude for addressing and resolving issues promptly and effectively.

Compensation
This is a non-tenure track, Lecturer position, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance and funds availability. The Lecturer classification salary range is $5,507 to $13,224 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated job range depends on qualifications and should not exceed $ 6,221.10 per month. Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
