Summary :
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) plays a vital role in assisting with the implementation of treatment programs and care plans as directed by the licensed Physical Therapist , in accordance with the State Practice Act . The PTA helps to enhance the rehabilitation process for patients / residents under the supervision of licensed professionals.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :
- Administer Treatments : Provide physical therapy treatments to patients / residents based on the therapy plan of care established by the Physical Therapist and in accordance with the State Practice Act.
- Data Collection : Gather data for patient / resident screens and report findings to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Documentation : Record patient / resident responses to treatments and communicate these observations to the supervising Physical Therapist. Maintain accurate records of daily progress, weekly summaries, and therapy summary sheets.
- Patient / Resident Progress : Participate in consultations and educational programs aimed at improving patient / resident care and staff performance as directed by the Director of Rehabilitation .
- Family Education : Instruct patients / residents, their families, and / or caregivers in physical therapy recommendations to continue after discharge as advised by the Physical Therapist.
- Safety and Sanitation : Ensure that the physical surroundings and equipment are sanitized, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- In-Service Participation : Attend scheduled in-service programs related to work topics, as directed by the Director of Rehabilitation.
- Student Supervision : Assist in the supervision and education of affiliating students, in accordance with the State Practice Act and regulations.
- Additional Duties : Perform other duties as assigned by the Physical Therapist or Director of Rehabilitation, within the scope of the State Practice Act and regulations.
- Compliance : Demonstrate a working knowledge of, and comply with, the facility’s compliance program, policies, and procedures, as well as applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
- Confidentiality : Ensure compliance with the protection of patient / resident health information and company-sensitive information, adhering to company policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
