Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen and a comprehensive understanding of corporate accounting practices. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making processes. Primary responsibilities include:
Working with Accounts Payable Admin to:
- Match purchase orders to their corresponding invoice, prepare the invoice for approval, and capture GL expense coding in ERP software
- Prepare expense reimbursement payments to employees and payments to subcontractors
- Process payment runs to vendors, suppliers, employees and subcontractors
Entering and reconciling company issued credit card charges in ERP software
Responding to vendor inquiries
Perform vendor statement account reconciliations and take appropriate actions if needed
Assisting with analyzing entering of data for audits, quarterly/annual payroll regulatory reporting and 1099’s
Verifying that sales and use tax is applied at the correct rates and remitted to the correct jurisdictions
Partner with high volume internal customers to understand the intricacies of their vendor and supplier relationships to prepare invoices for approval as accurately and timely as possible
Assist the Controller in:
- Maintaining detailed financial records for auditing and tax purposes
- Generating monthly, quarterly and annual financials
- Preparing Job Cost and Work in Progress reports
- Updating and maintaining fixed asset records
Other duties as assigned
Key skill and educational requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or business administration
- Proficiency in leveraging ERP software
- Strong analytical skills
- Extreme attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Creative and diligent problem solver
- Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills
Key skills preferred include:
- 1 -5 years of experience in construction accounting or related field
- Knowledge of construction cost accounting
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite including Excel
- Experience leveraging cloud file storage
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: Salary starting $55,000 and eligible for annual performance bonus
