Primary Responsibilities And Requirements
- Lead and Communicate: Clearly and effectively articulate ideas, professional opinions, and recommendations to both clients and internal multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring design solutions align with client vision and strategic goals.
- Creative Contributions: Bring an innovative and creative outlook to every project, providing fresh solutions that push the boundaries of design and contribute to the development of compelling visual brand languages.
- Sketching and Form Development: Exhibit excellent sketching and form development skills, whether digitally or traditionally, to effectively communicate ideas and concepts that drive the design forward.
- Aesthetic Expertise: Deliver a sophisticated aesthetic sensibility, keeping a pulse on emerging design trends to create relevant and forward-thinking designs that resonate with users and elevate brand identities.
- Multi-Project Management: Efficiently manage multiple projects across various industries, maintaining focus on both creative and strategic objectives, while meeting deadlines and expectations.
- Prototyping and CAD Modeling: Create form studies and prototypes when 2D designs need to be brought to life and build 3D CAD models to support form development and product testing.
- User-Centered Design: Demonstrate understanding and empathy for the end-user experience, ensuring that designs not only look great but function seamlessly for the target audience.
- Leadership: Take initiative in leading and managing others to complete projects, guiding team members to elevate the quality of design solutions while ensuring timelines and goals are met.
- Self-Motivation & Time Management: Exhibit a self-motivated commitment to hard work, while managing time effectively to juggle multiple priorities and deliver exceptional results consistently.
- Portfolio Requirements: A portfolio that showcases a thoughtful creative process and the ability to develop innovative solutions. We’re looking for examples that demonstrate not just finished designs, but also your approach and the evolution of your ideas.
- Reporting Structure: You will report to the VP of Industrial Design and collaborate closely with DesignThink team members from Industrial Design, Engineering, and Usability. You’ll also work directly with clients, advocating passionately for the end-user experience while ensuring designs align with strategic goals and brand identity.
- Digital Tools Competency: Proficiency in relevant digital tools is essential. This includes Adobe Creative Suite, 3D CAD, and rendering software (SolidWorks preferred, Keyshot a plus), enabling you to execute your designs at the highest level of precision.
- Qualifications: Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in industrial design or an equivalent field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the industry. This experience should demonstrate a strong foundation in both design innovation and the strategic application of design solutions.
- Position Type and Salary: This is a full-time position. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with your experience and skills, reflecting the value we place on high-quality design work.
