Industrial Emergency Services, LLC ("IES") is a leading provider of fire safety, first responder and, emergency response services and staffing. IES' customers include some of the largest and most successful industrial companies in the world, from integrated energy companies to petrochemical, chemical, pipeline, bulk terminal tank farms and, marine services companies.
IES is currently seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer and Estimator to assist in advancing our fire protection & life safety offerings in Louisiana.
This individual will conduct design services and develop estimates for fire sprinkler systems in commercial and industrial use settings. He or she will design and create the finished representation for the sprinkler systems using drawing and drafting skills and tools. The drawings produced will be used as a guide by every other link in the chain of construction, both on-site and in the office. This person will also provide direct supervision of the firm’s employees by routinely engaging in and regularly reviewing the daily life safety and property protection activity of the employees of the firm as directed by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s office.
Job Responsibilities
- Through use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determine construction feasibility and systems possibilities
- Create detailed drawings through extensive use of AutoCAD, AutoSprink, or HydraCAD type programs
- Prepare system layouts, hydraulic calculations and stock lists
- Create project estimates in coordination with the sales & operations teams as needed
- Manage required submittals with customers and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s office
- Maintain design historical records and historical records for all functions for future use
- Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper handover of job information
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other applicable personnel to ensure integrated design solutions
- Review and interpret plans and specifications to determine project requirements
- Conduct site visits and surveys as needed
- Stay updated on industry codes, standards, and best practice
- Create customer as-builts and convert to cad drawings
- Routinely engage in and regularly review of daily sprinkler systems operations of the fire services team
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- Required (1 of the following):
- NICET certification: NICET Level III or IV certified, in water based systems layout and design
- Professional Engineer in the state of Louisiana with a Mechanical Endorsement and experience required by LSFM
- Professional Engineer in the state of Louisiana with a Fire Protection Endorsement
- NICET II with the immediate ability to obtain Level III may also be considered
- Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD, AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or other specialized fire sprinkler layout software
- Proven ability and track record of performing work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines
- Must be detail-oriented
- Ability to coordinate and work well with others
- Excellent communication skills-written and verbal
Employment Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older – insurability requirements
- TWIC – required to enter most customer facilities (may be applied for and issued during the onboarding process)
- Homeland Security Background Check
- Valid driver’s license / MVR
