Shop Hand/Laborer

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Saw (Shophand) is responsible for providing cut metal parts & customer service to customers, salespersons, and sister companies (IESS/ECO). This person needs to ensure a professional, effective and efficient attitude and be accurate with measurements/calculations, and communication with customers/employees.

SCOPE

The Saw (Shophand) reports to the Shop Foreman and is responsible for providing a professional, attentive, and proactive environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Main Activities:

• Answer phones in a professional manner – if needed
• Direct phone calls to the correct department – if needed
• Keep work area clean
• Load merchandise for customers & salespersons
• Unload/load freight by forklift
• Weekly cleaning: Garbage, sweep, warehouses organized, etc.
• Complete customer work orders in a timely manner
• Cut Metal to customer specifications
• Document accurate labor for front office to invoice
• Perform other related duties as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

The applicant/employee must have proficient knowledge in the following areas

• Knowledge of tape measure and how to read it properly
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing customers orders
• Organizational skills for updating and maintaining company inventory
• Preferred knowledge in metal and the different types
• Proper phone etiquette

Skills

The applicant/employee must demonstrate the following skills:

• Basic mathematical skills
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Decision making skills
• Effective verbal, written and listening communications skills
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Very effective organizational skills
• Time management skills – up to and including multi-tasking
• Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
• Must be comfortable in Forklift maneuvering

Requirements:

• MUST be able to pass a drug/alcohol test.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
