What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Automation Engineer position at Industrial Heat Transfer, Inc.?

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Industrial Heat Transfer is a manufacturer of low-volume and highly engineered finned tube heat exchangers.  These heat exchangers are used in power plants, military vessels, and other industrial settings which require custom designs.  Since our designs are custom-made to the application, as opposed to off-the-shelf items, we are looking to speed up the design process by automating a lot of the repetitive design tasks. We are seeking a candidate who has an interest in learning about heat exchangers, engineering, and programming. You will be working with Senior Engineers who will help you learn how to design heat exchangers, optimize the design, and program the automation of the design.


DUTIES

Build and maintain tools for the design of Heat Exchangers based on customer requirements.

Collaborate with sales, engineering, drafting, and quality to identify automation opportunities and requirements.

Confirm and document that all software follows the best engineering practices.

Test and debug software to make sure it integrates with existing systems.

Learn and keep up to date with Visual Basic, Excel, SQL, and other programming languages used by IHT.

Provide training and support to the users of the automation software.

Develop Drawing Automation using AutoCAD, Inventor, and other CAD software used by IHT.

Develop and maintain XML-based design files.


MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS


2-year Technical Engineering degree or greater.

Knowledge of Visual Basic.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Proven experience in design automation, software development, or a similar role.

Proficiency in VBA, Visual Basic, XML, SQL

Experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD or Inventor

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
