POSITION SUMMARY:
Industrial Inspection & Analysis is looking for an Application Engineer to join our Lab group at our Minnetonka, MN location.
The Application Engineer is primarily responsible for supporting Engineering Services projects as a subject matter expert completing customers projects in a timely fashion and within budget. Engineering functions include CT and Laser scanning, Reverse Engineering, Virtual Dimensional Inspection, Comparative Analysis, Computer Aided Verification (CAV), and more.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide Story Worthy service to our Engineering Services customers ensuring that projects are accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
- Operating multiple scanning platforms to accurately capture part geometries and editing point cloud data to produce optimal scan quality.
- Able to work with multiple software packages including SolidWorks, Polyworks, Geomagic Wrap, Smart Profile, Design X, Control X.
- Completing customer projects including CAV, Reverse Engineering, Inspection, or Modeling.
- Grow and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while developing relationships with new customers.
- Working closely with customers to gather information for quoting and complete project closeout meetings.
- Maintain a clean work environment that always offers customers a “tour ready” appearance.
- Nondestructive Testing (NDT) using CT and Radiography.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- BS Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience with metrology and model-based inspection methods using structured light scanning, laser scanning, CT Scanning, Real-Time X-Ray, and/or FARO Measuring Arm.
- Proficient using SolidWorks. Advanced modeling techniques including surface modeling and reverse engineering from point cloud or mesh data greatly preferred.
- Strongly prefer manufacturing experience in Injection Molding, Machining, Additive Manufacturing, or similar industry.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) and general blueprint reading.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, etc.
- Be a confident problem solver able to make timely decisions independently.
- Be a motivated, results-oriented professional with a strong willingness to learn, independently if necessary.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams across a broad range of disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills and strong ability to work with customers
- Nondestructive testing background and/or certifications a plus.
Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
