Industrial Inspection & Analysis is looking to fill a Metallurgical Lab Technician position at our laboratory located in St. Louis, MO.
The Metallurgical Lab Technician's primary job function is to support our Metallurgists by preparing specimens and conducting metallurgical tests to ensure that metal products meet required specifications and quality standards. We strive for story-worthy customer service.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Preparation of test specimens utilizing abrasive cutoff saws, band saws, auto and manual grinding and polishing.
- Setting up and operating specialized metallurgical testing equipment.
- Performing various analyses including, but not limited to, corrosion testing, hardness testing, micro-hardness testing, stereo microscopy, and metallurgical microscopy.
- Prepare thorough documentation of test results comparing them to specifications and create detailed reports of findings.
- Utilize tools and methodology to help create solutions to problems.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Ability and inclination to use, operate, and maintain necessary tools, equipment, and instruments.
- Attention to detail through experience documenting test results and maintaining detailed records.
- Ability to organize work and to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently to meet deadlines is essential to this position
- Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in metallurgical sample preparation and analysis
- Associate's degree in metallurgy, materials science, or a related field
Working Conditions
- Work will be performed primarily in lab and occasionally onsite at client facility
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while performing the job responsibilities. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
