General Statement/Purpose of Job:
This position develops, updates, and supports product lines for the company’s portfolio of innovative and energy-efficient lighting solutions. The position applies a broad range of Mechanical Engineering proficiencies including CAD, thermal, and optical design. Design for fabrication, cost/benefit analysis, and problem-solving are key to this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works under the direction of the Director of Engineering to achieve the goals of the department.
- Utilize Solid Edge/SolidWorks for the creation of prototype CAD models, including sheet metal and cast components.
- Execute design and testing activities as relevant through the Stage Gate process.
- Prepare project submittals to regulatory agencies.
- Develop BOM and routing for new product configurations in the Epicor ERP system.
- Work with Product Line Managers to develop a new or updated product in coordination with other stakeholders within the company.
- Works from written, pictorial or verbal instruction.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.
- Experience in problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Moderate MS Office skills
- Proficient in CAD software to create 2D and 3D models (SolidWorks, Solid Edge etc)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Associate’s degree and relevant experience.
Travel:
Minimal travel is required.
Working Conditions:
This role is primarily office-based, offering a clean and comfortable working environment conducive to collaborative and individual project work. Employees may be required to:
- Occasionally visit the manufacturing facility, where they will be exposed to the factory setting. Proper safety training and personal protective equipment will be provided to ensure employee well-being in these areas.
- Perform tasks that may require sitting or standing for extended periods, utilizing computers and other office equipment.
- Engage in occasional lifting of office supplies and equipment, not exceeding 50 pounds.
