Position:

Electrical Technician-With a Control Panel Building Skillset: This is a contracted position, The length of our contracts will be dependent on several things such as, Dependability, work ethic and experience. We usually start our contracts anywhere from 1 month to 6 months. Your first 30 days will be your probate period in which we will decide if we will be extending your contract to work with us long term.

All of our projects are contracted, all of our technicians are also contracted. Some have been with us for years, some just months. It all depends on you. All contracts work just like full time employment, so you will receive a W2 as normal. We do this as each contract we receive has a time line on it as well as an expiration date. If you are good at what you do, then after your contract ends we keep you anyway for internal work, as well as future upcoming projects. So it all depends on you and what you want out of it.

Payroll:

Weekly Payroll: Payday is Friday each week, you may be paid earlier, depending on your financial institution. We pay by Friday each week, or after time is processed. All new hires will be held back one week when starting with IMC.

Job Description:

The Panel Builder is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of various electrical equipment. The Panel Technician will be required to work with various engineers and technicians to ensure the proper functioning of electrical components. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in electrical assembly, wiring, and or maintenance. Other skillsets are required of all of our contractors, this allows to always have something to do for each of them if we run out of a specific type of work.

As a control panel builder, your responsibilities include the assembly of electrical components into a control panel for industrial machines. You are responsible for the assembly complex wiring layouts on electric units, the set up of testing systems, and preparation of panels for shipment. You primarily use hand tools like screwdrivers, wire strippers, and crimpers. Other duties include communicating problems and quality control issues to supervisors and co-workers, anticipating material and resource needs for upcoming projects, and keeping the work area clean and organized. You may operate a forklift, pallet jack, or other equipment to load and ship products. Each of our contractors carry a variety of skillsets, this allows for each of them to do other tasks if a specific type of work is slow. As a Panel Builder we would also have you backing up any electrical work that happens in the field or at any of the facilities, Pulling cables and wires, hanging conduit, terminating cables and wires, rerouting any types of electric items, electrical inventory, troubleshooting systems and machines for electrical issues or concerns. Possibly electrical schematics and drawings, we may test your hand at creating them. When all else fails or should i say is caught up, everyone falls back into the installation field, where we do nearly any type of installs with any machines.

You must be able to read electrical wire schematics and other technical drawings. You also need excellent electrical skills, and you must be able to use voltage and amperage meter tooling.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years minimum of experience in electrical panel component assembly, wiring, or maintenance
  • Basic math skills
  • Use of voltage meters, knockout tooling and drill / taps
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals prints
  • Ability to follow instructions and comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Good physical condition and stamina (lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for 8 hours, etc.)
  • Detail oriented, focus and eyes on path
  • Understands electrical systems and control systems, can detect issues with control panels, will it work, is there more effective ways to build them?
  • A good control panel builder can always improve any panel as no one panel is ever built perfectly. Newer devices, and components can always change the outcome of how a control panel will react once completed and powered on in a running and operating system.

It don't take weeks to build a panel if you have all the parts, it should take a few days MAX and this is for a very large panel.
