Maintenance Manager

About the Company

As the Sawmill Maintenance Manager, you will spearhead the operational excellence and team unity at our Mitchell Plant. Your primary focus will be to lead and enhance the manufacturing and maintenance teams, ensure safety and machinery up-time, and cultivate a culture aligned with IPC’s core values. You will drive strategic initiatives to reduce turnover, maintain equipment and facilities, and continuously improve processes to achieve high operational efficiency.

Leadership and Culture

• Serve as a cultural leader, promoting IPC’s core values through a well-functioning, values-driven team.
• Develop and implement a leadership structure to foster team growth and development.
• Address and overcome the five enemies of team unity at the Mitchell Plant.

Communication and Coordination

• Ensure clear, effective communication with Mitchell management and supervision.
• Lead and manage the maintenance team to champion teamwork and unity within and across departments.

Maintenance Operations

• Oversee Mitchell Plant Maintenance Operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and machinery up-time.
• Manage all physical aspects of the plant, including electrical and mechanical systems, production equipment, utilities, and grounds.
• Provide maintenance support and breakdown coverage during all scheduled production operating hours.
• Develop and maintain an on-call schedule for technicians to ensure 24/7 maintenance support.
• Implement and manage a proactive Preventative Maintenance (PM) program using Fiix to ensure equipment is always in excellent working condition.

Inventory and Procurement

• Maintain the parts inventory system to support a 98% uptime goal, ensuring availability of replacement parts.
• Procure materials, supplies, and repair parts as needed to maintain inventory levels.

Safety and Compliance

• Proactively work to minimize fire risks and ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
• Manage relationships with contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

Operational Efficiency and Improvement

• Achieve a daily uptime of 98% or higher for every division.
• Production minimum of 20 million board feet/year
• Maintain excellent housekeeping and organization in all relevant areas.
• Lead safety team meetings at least twice per week with all maintenance staff.
• Participate in budgeting processes to ensure responsible maintenance expenditures.
• Identify and implement improvements and efficiencies to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and profitability.
• Suggest and oversee equipment needs and acquisitions to maximize production efficiency and return.

Teamwork and Customer Service

• Set an example for all team members in teamwork, communication, and customer service.
• Support and collaborate with other Industrial Pallet Corp. supervisors.
• Maintain a strong customer service focus for both internal and external customers.

Requirements

• Proven experience in Industrial maintenance management.
• Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, optics, servers, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
• Strong understanding of maintenance operations, safety protocols, and machinery upkeep in a Sawmill setting.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members, contractors, and service providers.
• Proficiency in using maintenance management software.
• Availability for phone and leadership accessibility 24/7, with potential for extended hours as needed.

Key Metrics for Success

• Daily uptime of 98% or higher across all divisions.
• Achievement of 95% or higher daily task completion using Fiix.
• Effective management of maintenance inventory and procurement.
• Active participation and contribution to the budgeting process.
• Successful implementation of improvements and cost-saving initiatives.

Additional Notes

This role requires daily engagement with all work shifts and may involve off-shift or weekend work as needed. The Sawmill Maintenance Manager will be pivotal in shaping the plant’s operational success and fostering a cohesive, high-performance team.
