An Electroplating Technician is responsible for performing electroplating processes to deposit metal coatings onto various surfaces. These coatings enhance the appearance, durability, and functionality of objects, components, and products. The Electroplating Technician ensures that the plating process is carried out accurately, safely, and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and inspect workpieces, ensuring they are clean, properly masked, and ready for plating.
Identify defects, imperfections, or contaminants that may affect the plating process and make necessary adjustments.
Set up and operate electroplating equipment, including tanks, rectifiers, and control panels.
Select appropriate plating solutions and chemicals based on job requirements.
Immerses workpieces in plating solutions and follows established processes to ensure even and uniform plating deposition.
Monitor plating process parameters, such as temperature, current density, voltage, and plating time, to ensure consistent quality.
Perform routine checks and tests to verify coating thickness, adhesion, and visual appearance.
Adjust process parameters as needed to maintain quality standards.
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents, injuries, and exposure to hazardous materials.
Properly handle and dispose of chemicals in accordance with regulations.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Keep detailed records of plating processes, including process parameters, results, and any adjustments made.
Prepare reports on production, quality, and any issues encountered during plating.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in electroplating processes, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
Knowledge of various plating techniques, equipment, and materials.
Understanding of chemical safety protocols and hazardous material handling.
Strong attention to detail and quality control.
Ability to interpret technical instructions, manuals, and schematics.
Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work with chemicals while adhering to safety protocols.
