Position Overview
Job Summary
Responsible for the movement of raw materials and finished goods to the proper work area or designated storage location.
Essential Duties
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
Supplies operators with materials and moves finished work to next operation ensuring proper movement of work through production line
Informs supervisor of material shortages
Uses hand trucks, carts, pallet jacks, etc. to move materials throughout the department
Assist supervisor in maintaining adequate inventory supplies by reporting low levels or shortages of supplies
Assists product package in preparing finished product for palletizing and storage
Responsible for safety and good housekeeping practices around work areas
Promptly completes any other duties and responsibilities designated by the department supervisor
Receives, distributes, and stores products as directed in designated, secure locations.
Prepares and maintains records of materials received and shipped including dates of transactions, locations, and other pertinent information.
Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy; reviews documents for accuracy
Confirms shipping details or special instructions; expedites shipments that affect the manufacturing process schedule
Transports and loads materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids)
When problems arise, resolves issues with contractors or vendors
Validates, approves, and forwards invoices to accounting department
Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment
Required Skills and Abilities
Requires ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions, and perform simple mathematical operations.
Requires the ability to utilize carts, shop trucks, hand jacks, etc. to assist with movement of materials.
Requires the ability to recognize stitching defects
Requires the ability to thread various sewing machines, change needles and make minor adjustments
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of three years’ experience as a material handler
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and use external dexterities for an entire shift
Walk and stand for extended periods
Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times
For textile departments, the ability to thread various sewing machines, change needles and make minor adjustments
