Empowerment Scope:
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for implementing and maintaining HR policies while collaborating with administrators, department managers, and project supervisors to address the company’s labor needs. This role focuses on managing recruitment, hiring, and employee training to ensure compliance and workforce readiness. The HR Generalist plays a key role in employee retention and performance management to support organizational success.
Human Resource Generalist Expectations
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Manage the hiring process for Industry Standard Electric, Inc., including collaborating with recruiters to source temporary staff and skilled talent.
- Pursue and recruit qualified experienced applicants, utilizing various job boards and other mediums, to fill the talent pool in preparation for all projects.
- Post job openings, screen resumes, and conducting initial interviews; familiarity with platforms like really, ZipRecruiter etc., is a plus.
- Oversee and enhance company-wide onboarding policies and processes, ensuring a focus on effective training and safety for all new employees.
- Thoroughly understand the diverse skill sets needed for staff at ISE, Inc.
- Work closely with all departments and department managers to identify and support staffing needs.
- Coordinate wages, compensation and benefits plans for employees by remaining competitive within the area and industry.
Employee Relations & Training:
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns and inquiries, including sick calls, etc.
- Maintain and utilize the incentive structure to stay proactive in regard to employee retention.
- Ensure that all employees are properly trained, certified, and licensed to perform the required tasks, use the necessary equipment, and meet the needs of projects.
- Address performance issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
Compliance and Policies:
- Monitor the company’s compliance with industry specific regulations, labor laws, and employment laws. Specifically, the Fair Labor Standards Act, OSHA regulations and union contracts.
- Update and enforce company policies and employee handbook.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Understand and comply with immigration laws for foreign workers
- Understand the differences between union and non-union wage subsidization standards.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment and troubleshooting
- Coordinate wages, compensation and benefits plans for employees by remaining competitive within the area and industry.
- Ensure payroll accuracy by coordinating with the payroll team
- Support managers in setting performance goals and conducting performance reviews.
- Provide guidance on employee development and career progression
HR Reporting and Metrics:
- Have a thorough working knowledge of managing the possible direct and indirect costs from workplace accidents.
- Document the detailed processes required on each project or series of projects to communicate with the project manager to determine the labor needs of that project.
- Identify and keep records of available temporary workers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2- 5 years of HR experience
- Strong understanding of HR laws and regulations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with NetSuite HR Module is a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $76,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
