POSITION TITLE: ATU LOCAL 1070 TRANSIT APPRENTICESHIP & MENTORSHIP COORDINATOR
REPORTS TO: INDYGO OPERATIONS LEADERSHIP DESIGNEE AND MAP STEERING COMMITTEE

DEPARTMENT: ATU LOCAL 1070 UNION OFFICE DIVISION: ADMINISTRATIVE
POSITION PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Operations leadership designee, the ATU Local 1070 Transit Apprenticeship & Mentorship Coordinator (“the Coordinator”) is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and maintenance of the Mentorship and Apprenticeship Program (MAP). The coordinator of this program will utilize their on-the-job experience in transit to prepare training materials and provide direction to the MAP and serves as the program administrator and liaison to the ATU Local President/Business Agent or their representative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To be successful in this role, the individual must be able to perform all assigned duties and functions listed below in a satisfactory manner:
- Serves as the liaison to ATU Local 1070 President/Business Agent or their representative, IndyGo President CEO, and the IndyGo Executive Team point of contact with state or federal entities related to apprenticeship standards and programs
- Prepares written correspondence on behalf of ATU Local 1070 and the Mentoring & Apprenticeship Program
- Designs and facilitates the coach and maintenance mentorship educational seminars and onboarding of new mentors and mentees
- Advocate for and promote the program
- Prepares written and oral reports concerning all aspects of the Mentoring & Apprenticeship program, including individual mentees and apprentice’s performance, program accomplishments, and related documentation, and any mandated reporting.
- Coordinates and evaluates the participation of educational agencies and program instructors and mentors.
- Develops and implements strategies for pre-apprentices, outreach, recruitment, and retention in MAP
- Works closely with the IndyGo Workforce Development managers, ATU leadership, HR team members, mentors, and mentees
- Update and coordinate with the various IndyGo departments regarding MAP
- Conducts orientations for incoming new apprentices and mentors.
- Provides technical advice to mentors and mentees on evaluating work progress, recognizing acceptable work behaviors, and correcting unacceptable work behaviors.
- Maintains all MAP files and records, including but not limited to program documents, apprentice files and progress reports, and all meeting agendas and minutes.
- Offer support to new coach operators during training/onboarding
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, the individual must have a combination of the following education and/or experience.
- At least five (5) years of service as a Coach Operator, Mechanic, or related union-covered position.
- A valid Indiana driver’s license is required.
