POSITION PURPOSE
The General Laborer is responsible for performing non-technical maintenance and servicing on corporation vehicles and general custodial duties on corporation vehicles, around the shop and building grounds.
*The pay rate for this position is $20.52/hour.*
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the functions listed below. The company will provide reasonable accommodation to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform general custodial tasks in a specific work area including trash removal, sweeping, mopping and etc.
- Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber.
- Move furniture, file cabinets, desks, etc., as required.
- Set up furniture, stages, mats, etc., as required for special events.
- Clean and disinfect items and areas using basic household chemicals including bleach, disinfectant spray, dish soap, and etc.
- Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate authority; report need for maintenance repairs; respond to emergency custodial requests as needed.
- Perform snow removal and perform special work assignments or clean ups as directed.
- Operate & maneuver 40ft & 60ft buses through facilities.
- Inspect, test, and change tires to ensure conformance to standards.
- Provide nightly non-technical maintenance to each bus/non-commercial vehicle including fueling, topping off fluids, and detailing.
- Utilize high pressure steam hose and detergent solution, to clean bus engines and vehicle parts.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- Valid Driver’s License Required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those an individual must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to move and position self to work in confined spaces, and to move throughout the workday, occasionally between departments and facilities.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs to work on top of and beneath vehicles.
- Ability to use tools to perform non-technical maintenance work, including removing and installing small parts and components and regularly adjusting, assembling, testing, and operating equipment (Some tools will be provided).
- Ability to occasionally transport heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. through the facility and to the work area.
- Requires exposure to heavy machinery/equipment, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, fumes/odors, some hazardous materials, and dirt/dust.
- Must be able to pass all post offer physical testing and be able to complete all physical job functions as defined in the Functional Job Description.
- Ability to work night and weekend work shifts and overtime on a regular basis due to assignment shifts being picked bi-annually according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
