Background Information:
This temporary student position for summer supports the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland. ATR is the Navy's East Coast open-air test range and supports aviation, weapons system, and experimentation test and evaluation (T&E) events as well as warfighter training exercises. ATR provides real-time T&E services including data acquisition, instrumentation, data analysis, recording, test management, and airspace management to DoD and commercial customers. Complex, cutting-edge, one-of-a-kind instrumentation is developed and deployed within ATR's seven branches; Aircraft Signature & Avionics Measurement (ASAM), Optical Systems, Range Operations, Range Support, Range Systems, Telemetry Systems, and Test Management.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support one or more Branch, getting experience with the different technologies and missions of each
- Supports engineering, software development, and/or other technical efforts based on team assignment and the student's degree and interests
- Designs and develops software and/or hardware solutions for T&E and/or data acquisition instrumentation systems
- Tests, calibrates, and configures T&E and/or data acquisition instrumentation systems
- Maintains and improves the performance of existing hardware and/or software
- Provides technical expertise in the research and investigation of emerging technologies to support flight test requirements
- Provides operational project support as needed
Educational, Experience, and Skills Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current enrollment in a relevant Bachelor of Science degree program (Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science or other related discipline) from an accredited college or university. Preferred majors include Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science.
- Must be able to work both independently, as well as within a team environment
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills and possess the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, as well as work independently on tasks
- Must have excellent attention to detail and be able to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be able to demonstrate problem-solving skills and think critically
- Must possess strong general computer skills
- Must possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass drug screening
- Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
- Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance
