How the Role fits In:
The primary purpose of this position is to advise management on the condition of all Pasadena operating units and ensure their safe, optimum operation through the supervision of the plant Inspection department. Directs the preparation for, the execution of, and reporting on all unit inspections within the scope of the Inspection Department and sees that the complex operates safely with minimum amounts of downtime. Ensures that continuous records are maintained so that the condition of plant equipment can be determined, and retirement dates can be forecasted. Schedules and executes inspections to meet statutory and regulatory requirements. Acts as a consultant to Management Team on the mechanical reliability of process equipment and the ability of this equipment to perform in meeting operational plans. Supervises a varying amount of contract inspectors. Coordinates the activities of contract inspectors during shutdowns, turnarounds, and on-stream inspections. Maintains a safe, efficient operation and established operating conditions, meets production needs and product specifications, as well as ISO, ILCI, PSM, VPP, and Responsible Care requirements. Adheres to and supports the INEOS 20 Principles and INEOS Global Life Saving Rules.Â
Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
SHE Stewardship
Maintain safety as the highest priority and abide by all INEOS safety policies and procedures.
Understand and promote the INEOS “20 Principles of Safety�, assuring that personnel are aware of safe working practices and promote the safety concepts of “Coaching for Safety� and “Stop Work�.
Promote safety and safe actions through communication such as discussing safety with employees/contractors before job task, during meetings, and as opportunities arise to promote safety to the fullest extent possible.
Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulatory requirements and strive to meet internal SHE objectives.
Ensure completion of own and direct subordinate training requirements as outlined in the annual training schedule.
Work Duties
All job activities should be executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles and the Culture of Prevention. Responsible for supporting and embracing INEOS Life Saving Rules
Responsible for the integrity management of assigned equipment
Responsible for maintaining critical assets assigned
Assures compliance to internal procedures by advising Management of inspection requirements during shutdowns and turnarounds, executing those inspections, and reporting findings to management in a timely manner. On-stream inspections will be utilized as much as possible to determine equipment conditions prior to outages to avoid peak manpower loadings and to allow time for procurement of replacement materials when deemed necessary
Assures compliance to all statutory and regulatory equipment inspections as required by the State of Texas, the United States Coast Guard and Federal Government
Exerts close working contacts with practically all plant personnel from the Plant Manager to the hourly workforce. Communications are maintained between the technical services group and other INEOS Companies for the interchange of information and problem solving
Is a part of the Management of Change process by reviewing all applicable Category "A" Modifications. Defines the requirements for both shop and field inspections on new equipment and assures compliance to those requirements. Provides vendor and shop surveillance as required
Manages Plant Inspection Department Procedures including the Welding Program, Safety and Relief Valve Program, Pressure Vessel Repair Program, for strict compliance to the requirements of those documents
Strives for methods of ensuring longer unit runs with less downtime. Keep abreast of new developments and techniques in the inspection field
Concerned with the mechanical integrity of the complex and if failure occurs, makes rapid decisions on recommended repairs to keep down time at a minimum without compromising the safety of plant personnel or releases to the environment.
Participate in audits and interviews, including 20 Principals, OSHA, TNRCC, ISO 9002, etc.
Reports all incidents and completes incident report in Traction and complies with Global Safety Absolutes.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Education/Experience
Position requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent; and
Minimum five (5) years plus experience in industrial material procurement/distribution; with
Three (3) years plus experience working with computerized Storeroom inventory software, preferably SAP; or
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in related job tasks that demonstrate equivalent skills.

The use of the following site systems could be required: Emerson Distributive Control System, PI Data Historian, COA Database, Training Mine, Alfresco Document Management, Esker
Forklift (electric or diesel), bandsaw, drill, handsaw, general small hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.), electronic scale, tape measure, label machine, step ladder, extension ladder.
Physical Requirements
