The Position
The Process Safety Management (PSM) / SHE Engineer is accountable for the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program for the INEOS Styrolution Bayport ASA Plant. Responsibilities include leading the Process Hazard Analysis program, ensuring regulatory compliance guidance to all elements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119, developing tools to identify and mitigate process safety risks, sharing learnings with the other Texas Gulf Coast sites, and managing the Safety Health & Environmental (SHE) Department. This position will also support compliance to EPA’s Risk Management Program (RMP) 40 CFR Part 68.

This position – and all positions - within the INEOS Styrolution organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following, and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioral Safety as applicable to the position. What You Will Do

- Lead or participate in incident investigations, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA), to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Support and facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and related evaluations for Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) processes.
- Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams daily to troubleshoot, support, and optimize unit performance and overall plant operations.
- Manage and analyze process safety KPIs, reporting results to leadership and plant supervision to evaluate the effectiveness of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
- Oversee and provide technical support for the KMS database to track MOC and action items from initiation to completion, while addressing process safety concerns in collaboration with site engineers.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of progressive Process Safety Management (PSM) experience and at least 2 years of in-unit petrochemical plant experience.
- Fluent in English, with strong oral and written communication skills to interpret EPA, OSHA, and other regulations and liaise with appropriate agencies.
- Physically capable of climbing structures (up to 75 feet), navigating manways (up to 200 feet), and wearing respirators or air supply equipment in plant environments.
- Acute sensory ability to detect sound, smell, and visual cues (e.g., wind direction) critical for plant operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), SAP, and SQL database software at an intermediate level.
- Strong technical writing skills for preparing detailed and clear documentation.
