Eligibility Worker/Program Assistant

Job Overview
This position is primarily assigned to the Alternative Payment Program administered by the Agency. The Alternative Payment Program is a child care subsidy benefit that authorizes child care payment assistance to qualifying families through either partial or complete payment assistance to the parent’s choice of child care provider. This position will work with families to explain participation requirements, collect documents that verify eligibility, and engage in various work to support family enrollment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Effectively explains rules and regulations governing eligibility and legal rights to callers, walk-ins, and/or applicants while keeping personal information confidential.

2. Sends out letters, documents to collect needed paperwork to accurately evaluate personal and financial data to determine initial or continuing eligibility, according to State and agency guidelines. Responds to applicants regarding initial eligibility determination.

3. Collects necessary documents and explains participation requirements in order to enroll new child care providers into the program.

4. Effectively navigates and works within the Agency’s computer software system.

5. Keeps abreast of current regulations pertaining to subsidy program (which can include basic state child care licensing regulations).

6. Utilizes strategies to identify family needs and provides them with referrals to community resources.

7. Effectively collaborates and communicates with community partners such as ICES Child Care Resource and Referral Department and CalWORKS staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $20.27 - $25.43 per hour

• Sonora, CA 95370: Relocate before starting work (Required)
