Job Summary :
The Employee Health Nurse is responsible for overseeing employee health programs, ensuring compliance with occupational health regulations, and managing employee exposures and injury follow-ups. This role plays a critical part in protecting the health and safety of hospital employees by coordinating pre-employment screenings, immunizations, and exposure investigations. During downtime, the Employee Health Nurse will assist with infection prevention activities, cross-train in infection control responsibilities, and provide backup support as needed.
Key Responsibilities :
Employee Health & Occupational Safety :
- Conduct pre-employment health screenings, vaccinations, and medical clearances.
- Manage employee exposures to infectious diseases, including TB, bloodborne pathogens, and respiratory illnesses.
- Perform post-exposure follow-ups, including testing, treatment coordination, and documentation.
- Oversee injury reporting and follow-ups for work-related incidents in collaboration with HR and Risk Management.
- Monitor employee health compliance with vaccinations (flu, COVID-19, Hepatitis B, etc.) and annual TB screenings.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and hospital policies.
- Provide employee health education on workplace safety, infection control, and injury prevention.
- Serve as a liaison between employees, physicians, and workers’ compensation case managers for return-to-work evaluations.
