The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) is seeking Senior Manager, Business Partnerships. IDSA is a community of over 13,000 physicians, scientists and public health experts who specialize in infectious diseases. The Senior Manager, Business Partnerships is responsible for providing collaborative leadership and vision in the establishment of attendee and industry partner marketing efforts for IDWeek, while also stewarding relationships with all industry partners. In collaboration with the Senior Director, Business Partnerships & Expo Operations, the Senior Manager, Business Partnerships will plan and implement operations and industry partner activities for IDWeek, regional meetings, and IDSA and SHEA (The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America) at large. The Senior Manager will creatively develop strategies to achieve budgetary goals and increase revenue streams by analyzing trends in data to implement best practices.

Characteristic Essential Responsibilities

Program and Project Oversight:

  • In partnership with the Senior Director, develops and executes strategic implementation for industry partner exhibits, advertising, affiliated event programs, and corporate support to broaden industry financial support and achieve short and long-term strategic goals while adhering to budgetary objectives and maximizing profit for IDWeek, IDSA, and SHEA.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director to create and execute comprehensive marketing and partnership strategies for IDWeek and related events, focusing on attendee engagement, industry partner marketing, and expo operations.
  • Provides leadership and vision for the establishment of industry partnerships and relationships, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals
  • Researches, creates and oversees the implementation of new programs to grow revenue for IDWeek, IDSA and SHEA.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Cultivates, nurtures, and manages relationships with industry partners, sponsors, exhibitors, and other key stakeholders to enhance their experience and satisfaction.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all industry partner inquiries and support, ensuring a positive and mutually beneficial relationship.
  • Develops, oversees, and implements relationship building plans with industry contacts including prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and ongoing reporting and servicing.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Analyzes data and feedback to evaluate the success of partnership strategies, recommending adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities for growth.
  • Manages the corporate support recognition programs for educational grants for IDWeek
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, adult education, or related field
  • 3 years in convention planning experience with concentration in exhibitions and corporate support
  • Knowledge of and experience with best practices in scientific convention management and adult learning models
  • Excellent relationship building skills with the demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong lasting partnerships within the organization and amongst industry stakeholders

Competencies: Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess trends, market data, and implement effective business strategies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a special focus on effective communication with colleagues, society members, and industry professionals
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative leadership skills with the ability to forge and maintain long-term partnerships with stakeholders in the industry
  • Ability to think critically and plan strategically utilizing creative problem-solving skills while also meeting multiple timelines, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to learn and maintain an intermediate working knowledge of PhRMA Code, AdvaMed Code of Ethics, AMA’s Gifts to Physicians from Industry, and the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support on Continuing Medical Education
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and data management systems including software and program applications relating to convention management
  • Demonstrated success in ability to collaborate across multiple internal and external organizations
  • Superior time management skills
  • Effective project and process oversight capabilities with the ability to allocate and optimize resources
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Customer service-oriented
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to simplify complex processes
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects or programs throughout the lifecycle and integrate lessons learned into next iteration

Additional Qualifications: (Such as certifications, industry-specific experience and the experience working with certain equipment)

  • CMP, CEM or CAE preferred

  • Must be able to travel at least 25% of the time

  • Travel may include nights and weekends

Physical Demands

  • This position requires sitting and/or standing at a desk, prolonged sitting and bending and lifting during travel, as well as extensive sitting, standing, walking, and lifting during IDWeek.
  • This role also requires access to stable internet, and ability to spend several hours on the computer.
