What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Staff Engineer, Validation Engineering position at Infineon Technologies?
This lab-intensive job entails supporting new IC products from conception through release to market. As a Senior Staff Engineer on the Validation team your responsibility will be to develop/perform extensive lab testing to ensure that new products meet our stringent reliably and performance requirements. This position requires a self-motivated individual that can manage the Validation portions of multiple projects, while also providing mentoring and leadership to less experienced engineers on the team. Due to the nature of the products you will work on, consistent attention to detail combined with unwavering quality standards is a must for this position.

In your new role you will:
- Define bench validation plan and equipment setups
- Perform hardware validation of in-development mixed-signal power IC products from the definition phase through product release to ensure ICs perform as expected and are free of bugs.
- Implement efficient product validation coverage using automated testing techniques
- Drive innovation in the form of new advancements (test methods, improved lab infrastructure, improved reporting/bug tracking, etc.)
- Oversee and perform PCB layout to ensure evaluation boards allow for full coverage testability of new products
- Analyze data and work with design engineering to analyze results and find root cause of bugs
- Take an active role in mentoring / leading less advanced engineers
- Take ownership of all aspects of validation for assigned projects, including planning, lab work, generating reports and leading validation review meetings.
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or other related degree
- At least 8 years of experience directly related to power electronics
- Significant hands-on experience in the electronics lab evaluating mixed-signal power products
- Solid understanding of both analog and digital circuits
- In-depth understanding of the architecture and control of power converters, including various DC/DC converters
- Significant experience with scripting languages such as Python
- A strong desire to define and lead efforts related to validation of new power ICs.
