JOB TITLE: Desk Clerk
CLIENT: Fort Liberty, NC
POSITION TYPE: 100% On-Site; Involves Weekend and Overnight shift work
SUMMARY:
The Desk Clerk receives mobilizing and demobilizing Soldiers into the designated barracks facilities for the duration of their processing timeline. Upon completion, the clerk clears Soldiers from the barracks facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities listed in a satisfactory manner:
- Maintain and develop positive working relationships with key personnel involved in or directly relevant to mobilization operations
- Responsible for periodic inspection
- Greet, register, and assign rooms to Soldiers
- Establish how the customer will pay for the accommodation
- Contact housekeeping or maintenance staff when guests report problems
- Make and confirm reservations
- Issue room keys and escort instructions to bellhops
- Keep records of room availability manually or using computers
- Establishing task priorities, scheduling and tracking work assignments
- Record guest comments or complaints
- Observe and report security situations
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements identified below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to satisfactorily meet the expectations of this job:
- Must be able to operate a Personal Computer (PC) with a functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (primarily Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Windows graphical user interface) and Data/web based systems required for task area performing work.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Use discretion when processing Soldiers’ personal information.
- Must have a working knowledge of personnel Stations.
- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
- Must possess a valid U.S. state driver’s license, applicable for the type and class of vehicle being operated.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year personnel administrative experience
- Must have a working knowledge of Army rank structure and military unit relationships
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Must have the ability to obtain a SECRET cleareance.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources. Ability to effectively respond, communicate and present information to senior management, contracting officials, clients and other employees in the organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to organize work, define and solve problems, establish and manage priorities, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions based on facts. Manager participates in prioritization of work and decision-making on allocation of resources. The incumbent must be able to analyze a situation analytically, evaluate the facts/data and formulate a plan of action.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties are primarily performed in an office environment; however, travel to off-site projects may involve work outdoors; in warehouses; supply points; motor pools; maintenance facilities; etc. for short periods of time.
