SUMMARY :
The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Air Force Leadership and Management's Studies also known as the Air Force Civilian Associate Degree Program's (CADP) focus is to provide foundational leadership, management, behavioral and air power development for Air Force civilians. Ira C. Eaker Center for Leadership Development administers the CADP program through the Civilian Leadership Development School (CLDS) based upon its mission of providing civilian undergraduate and professional continuing education and workforce development integrated with the Total Force.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
To perform this job successfully, the Education Technician / Instructor will act primarily as an Academic Advisor and must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities listed in a satisfactory manner :
- Create and execute education support project plans, following a project delivery approach for work.
- Provide academic advising to students within the CADP.
- Assist students to complete and / or update advising sheets (also understood as degree plans) based on established, approved list of courses and CLEP / DSST exams and / or understanding of accreditation requirements and subject matter requirements to complete CADP requirements based upon AU Registrar standards.
- Work with students to identify a list of CADP approved CLEP / DSST exams that will complete each general education and elective requirement. Explore topics with students to help guide student decision on which choice may be best for them.
- Provide information to students and help students update advising sheet (also known as CADP degree plan).
- Document each individual student advising in advising / counseling notes using established CADP / AU systems.
- Track all student advising sheets.
- Update AU / CADP student record, Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) and all other associated CADP / AU systems, as appropriate, each time advising sheet is updated.
- Identify any students missing an advising sheet by the end of SOAR and assist students in completing an advising sheet based upon their individual academic strengths or challenges and previous transfer credits.
- Use internal CADP spreadsheet and systems as well as AU and AU Registrar systems to track raw data, final products, and completion or other metrics as appropriate.
- Develop draft transfer credit packages, per CADP and AU Registrar format, for students based upon student advising sheet, transcripts, student transfer request form, list of approved transfer courses and exams.
- Provide completed draft to the government for review / approval.
- Coordinate flow of student transfer credit packages for acceptance of credit by AU Registrar.
- Support student success in credit by exam testing to complete Foundational Studies requirements.
- Discuss with students the general education and elective requirements for CADP.
- Interact with students via phone, email or collaboration platform, varying as best supports each student's comprehension of materials.
- Be knowledgeable about AF CivTA process and CLEP / DSST process, including registration and study resources available for free or through Air Force-paid sources and advise students on these processes and resources.
- Be knowledgeable about systems used by CADP students to request AF civTA, such as Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS) and AFVEC. Maintain an AFAEMS account, once coordinated by the government, by which students advising sheets will be updated.
- Be knowledgeable about CLEP and Prometrics (DSST) sites in terms of where information on various credits by exams will be found.
- Understand the exam registration process for each company and be able to walk students through the process using already developed guides.
- Update existing credit by exam registration how-to guides and / or create new ones as website information and / or exam companies and / or their information changes.
- Develop / update basic guides or study sheets on AF CivTA and CLEP / DSST for students by collating existing information currently found in various government and non-government resources, providing a one-stop center of info for students.
- Track and support ongoing student success in the Foundational Studies segment.
- Make routine contact (via phone and email) with students, ensuring students are on track to complete degree requirements by projected graduation date (determined based upon student entry into program).
- Update AFVEC and other AU / CADP records / systems showing completion of each degree requirement for each student (either CLEP / DSST, transfer course, or AU-delivered course).
- Track student progress toward foundational studies completion.
- Track whether each student is making satisfactory progress per CADP schedule, to complete requirements so students can graduate on time.
- Contact and advise students who are not on track for completion of their degree according to the CADP schedule.
- Provide inputs regarding current status of student completion of CADP degree requirements to appropriate CADP / AU spreadsheets, reports and / or systems as necessary.
- Provide weekly data to metrics update for CADP team by Cohort #.
- Provide other data monthly or by term, as needed to maintain oversight of status of each Cohort active within CADP.
- Develop adhoc metrics report as necessary.
- Elevate unclear policy or challenging / unusual issues to government.
- Support graduation / degree completion identification.
- Advise students to help ensure they make satisfactory progress by CADP standards for graduation date associated with their cohort #.
- Provide government, a minimum of once per term, a list and overall count of all students not on track for graduation and counsel said students.
- Review transcripts and course credits for all students identified as ready / on track for graduation beginning 3 months prior to graduation.
- Provide metrics / status report as required to provide overview of situation.
- Be knowledgeable on general CADP policies and procedures to field basic student questions during the course of interaction with students.
- Be aware of various educational resources available to CADP students and refer students to resources as necessary / applicable.
- Follow all applicable federal, AETC, AU, Eaker, CLDS and CADP regulations and policy regarding protection of student rights and privacy of information.
- Understand the requirement of protection of sensitive and / or private student information and maintain student confidentiality of information and records.
- Instruct students in CADP courses designed to prepare students for understanding and completing CADP Foundational Studies segment (General Education and Elective requirements) as well as providing a broad overview of CADP processes (to include academic advising, civTA, and general academic and study skills).
- Teach seminars using conference lines for audio, and government provided live webinar service using a web cam and employing the chat function.
- Review student work in discussion boards and provide them feedback.
- Review student progress in exercises, quizzes, and other interactive activities for participation.
- Attend Academic Instructor Course and other identified CADP specific instructor training to meet AETC and / or local requirements for instructors.

Ability to organize work, define and solve problems, establish, and manage priorities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions based on facts. Project Manager participates in prioritization of work and decision-making on allocation of resources. The incumbent must be able to analyze a situation analytically, evaluate the facts / data and formulate a plan of action.
