JOB SUMMARY:
The General Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day operations, under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, and provides support for our Consulting and Technical teams. The General Laboratory Supervisor ensures that all duties are properly performed and applicable CLIA regulations are met.
The General Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for managing assigned reports by furthering the team?s collaborative atmosphere, communicating company goals, policies, deadlines, conducting peer reviews, and monitoring individual performance. This position manages a team of employees, including involvement in the training and hiring of technologists and monitoring and reporting on the team?s performance to the Lighthouse Point-of-Contact. The incumbent also gives input and ensures compliance to laboratory workflow and process improvements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet CLIA regulations according to 42 CFR 493.1463
- Oversee all management administration for direct reports including participating in the interviewing and hiring processes, performance management meetings and evaluations, coaching, and timecards and PTO approvals.
- Represents direct reports by communicating with management regarding team morale, best practices, questions or input, and perceptions of Company direction.
- Perform all duties of the General Laboratory Supervisor as outlined in CLIA regulations (42 C.F.R. 493.1463), as well as all responsibilities delegated to the General Laboratory Supervisor by the Technical Supervisor and Laboratory Director.
- Being accessible to always testing personnel testing is performed to provide consultation to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established either by the laboratory director or technical supervisor.
- Providing day-to-day supervision of high complexity test performance by testing personnel.
- Monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
- Accepting delegated tasks from Laboratory Director and Technical Supervisor
- Oversees inventory management and ensuring supplies are on hand to meet the testing needs of the laboratory.
- Communication with Lighthouse Point-of-Contact regarding scheduling and staffing needs of the laboratory.
- Reviewing QC logs and updates, as necessary.
- Maintain integrity of process, following and reporting QA/QC occurrences.
- Work to ensure pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes are compliant with the lab?s standard operating procedures as well as relevant laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the laboratory.
- Assist the Company with validation testing and reporting of instrumentation for new laboratory start-up or research projects, as directed by Technical Consultant.
- Leading the tracking and completion of projects as directed.
- Completes all administration duties.
- Completes mandatory training and professional development as required or requested.
- Attend company meetings as required or requested.
- Ensures adherence to all State and Federal laws, guidelines and regulations including compliance with CLIA and CAP regulations.
- Always maintain HIPAA requirements.
- Adheres specifically to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations, and laws.
- Performs other duties as directed.
- This position may require occasional travel to client worksites.
