Job Overview of Quality Lab Technician :
Our client is seeking a Quality Lab Technician to join their dynamic team. This position is part of the plant management team, working alongside the QC laboratory team and independently to ensure high-quality standards are met at their Sunbury plant.
Roles & Responsibilities of Quality Lab Technician :
- Perform laboratory tests to determine the chemical and physical characteristics of materials (solid, liquid, or gaseous) for quality control, process control, product development, and compliance with specifications.
- Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment including analytical balances, moisture meters, viscometers, sulfur analyzers, and more, according to supervisor instructions.
- Test materials such as anthracite coal, petroleum coke, metallurgical coke, and graphite for properties like ash content, density, carbon content, sulfur content, and more.
- Test samples of manufactured products to ensure they meet specifications and collect samples from plant facilities, preparing them as necessary
- Assist with the creation of graphs and charts for SPC and statistical reporting, and contribute to updating laboratory procedures.
- Record test results on a computer for daily reporting and analysis.
- Perform basic mathematical computations for test results.
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and work areas.
- Review daily production results to ensure product quality meets standards, ensuring nonconforming materials are identified and properly labeled.
- Provide feedback to the production department on raw materials and products being produced.
- Work a standard 8-hour shift with potential additional hours, including weekends, as needed.
- Adapt to a constantly changing environment with minimal supervision, ensuring all testing requirements are met.
