Job Title: Pharmacy Technician for Medical Oncology Practice
Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our oncology team. The ideal candidate will mix and prepare intravenous medications for the clinic. The candidate will also perform dispensing oral cancer medications to patients. Ensuring accuracy and adherence to all pharmacy regulations is essential. The Pharmacy Technician will play a crucial role in providing excellent patient care through their expertise in medication administration and knowledge of aseptic techniques.
Duties:
- Assist in IV infusion preparation following aseptic techniques
- Preparing and dispensing oral medications
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to interpret and fill prescriptions
- Ensure proper labeling and packaging of medications
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by monitoring stock levels and placing orders when necessary
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries and concerns with professionalism
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure safe medication practices
- Adhere to clinical and regulatory policies and procedures related to medication handling
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the practice
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician
- Oncology experience is highly important
- Experience in an acute care, hospital or clinic pharmacy settings is advantageous
- Proficiency in medication administration and dosage calculations
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology and drug interactions
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems for prescription processing
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
