Aquatic Fish Store Associate

The Aquatic Fish Store Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining the health and well-being of fish and aquatic life, and ensuring the store is clean, organized, and stocked. This role includes advising customers on proper care, selection of fish, and aquarium equipment. Associates will also assist with tank maintenance, water testing, and inventory management, while staying informed on industry trends and new products. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about fish care, enjoys working in a dynamic environment, and has a passion for aquatic life.

Duties

**Duties at an Aquatic Fish Store:** 1. **Customer Assistance:** Help customers select fish, aquariums, and accessories, offering advice on fish compatibility, tank setup, and maintenance. 2. **Fish Care and Health Monitoring:** Ensure the health and well-being of all fish and aquatic life in the store by monitoring water quality, feeding schedules, and identifying any health issues. 3. **Tank Maintenance:** Clean and maintain display tanks, including removing debris, checking water parameters, and ensuring the tanks are visually appealing. 4. **Water Testing:** Regularly test water parameters (pH, ammonia, nitrate levels, etc.) and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal water quality. 5. **Inventory Management:** Manage stock levels, restock shelves, and ensure products like fish food, filters, and water conditioners are available for customers. 6. **Sales and Promotions:** Assist in driving sales by promoting new products, seasonal fish, or special offers to customers, and educating them about their benefits. 7. **Product Knowledge:** Stay informed on the latest aquatic trends, new fish species, and aquarium technologies to provide expert advice and recommendations. 8. **Store Cleanliness and Organization:** Keep the store neat and organized, ensuring all products are properly displayed and easy for customers to find. 9. **Customer Education:** Provide guidance to customers on proper aquarium maintenance, water treatments, and general fish care, ensuring they have the knowledge to maintain healthy tanks at home. 10. **Cashiering and Transaction Handling:** Process customer transactions accurately, handle cash, and provide receipts while ensuring customer satisfaction. 11. **Problem-Solving:** Address customer concerns or issues related to fish health, products, or services, offering solutions or escalating when necessary. 12. **Team Collaboration:** Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth operations, assist with deliveries or stock organization, and maintain a positive work environment. These duties contribute to the overall success of the store by ensuring customers have a positive experience and that the aquatic life and products are well-maintained.

Qualifications

1. **Knowledge of Aquatic Life:** Understanding of fish species, aquatic plants, and proper aquarium care practices.
2. **Customer Service Skills:** Ability to interact with customers in a friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful manner.
3. **Attention to Detail:** Strong ability to monitor water quality, fish health, and tank conditions.
4. **Problem-Solving Skills:** Ability to identify and address issues such as sick fish or poor water conditions.
5. **Physical Stamina:** Ability to perform manual tasks, such as lifting bags of aquarium supplies, cleaning tanks, and handling heavy equipment.
6. **Basic Sales Skills:** Experience with upselling related products and assisting customers with product selection.
7. **Teamwork:** Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to maintain store standards.
8. **Organization:** Capability to manage inventory, restock shelves, and keep the store organized and visually appealing.
9. **Strong Communication:** Clear communication with customers, coworkers, and management regarding store needs and customer inquiries.
10. **Experience (Preferred):** Previous experience in retail, pet care, or aquatic life-related fields is an advantage.
11. **Flexibility:** Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or evenings as needed.

These requirements ensure the candidate can effectively contribute to maintaining a healthy aquatic environment and provide excellent service in the store.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.50 - $12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 12.50 per week
