Position Summary : The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient and pharmacy records in a manner consistent with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as pharmacy policies and procedures.
Schedule : Mon, Tues, Thurs 7 : 30am - 7 : 30 pm and every other Saturday from 8 : 30am to 12 : 30 pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Practices exceptional customer service to all
2. Perform packaging, manipulative, or repetitive tasks relating to the processing of a prescription or medication order in a licensed pharmacy
3. Assists patients during the checkout process and maintains an accurate cash drawer
4. Accept prescription refill authorizations communicated to a pharmacy by a prescriber or by the prescriber’s agent
5. Contact prescribers to obtain prescription refill authorizations
6. Process pertinent patient information, including information regarding allergies and disease state
7. Enter prescription and patient information into the pharmacy computer system
8. Affix required prescription labels upon any container of drugs sold or dispensed pursuant to the prescription of an authorized prescriber
9. Prepackage or label multi-dose and single-dose packages of drugs as provided in 657—Chapter 22
10. As provided in rule 657—3.24(155A), accept new prescription drug orders or medication orders communicated to the pharmacy by a prescriber or by the prescriber’s agent
11. Places drug order for covered entities
12. Participates in quarterly quality improvement
13. Assists with the implementing and sustaining of patient centered medical home status as needed
14. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or GED
- Pharmacy Technician certification required
- Minimum one year pharmacy experience required, and 1-3 years preferred
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical and related medical technology
- Knowledge of prescription drugs and the dispensing function to check for correctness
- All employees are required to follow Infinity Health’s vaccination policy
