Description

FUNCTIONS:

1. Identifies key referral sources, including appropriate physician offices and puts in place the marketing process in order to help educate the referral source to the services and benefits of the Hospice Program for their terminally ill patients.
2. Successfully develops relationships in the field with key referral sources to ensure admission goals are met.
3. Presents the advantage of the Medicare Hospice Benefit to referral sources as well as patients and families. This requires a thorough understanding of the Medicare Hospice Benefit, the Medicare Long Term Benefit and the Medicare HMO Benefit.
4. Develops opportunities for and conducts in-service presentations to hospitals and other appropriate referral sources regarding hospice care and the indications for a hospice referral.
5. Describes and explains hospice services to potential patient/family and elicits responses to questions regarding patient fears, physical limitations and attitude toward hospice care in order to put the patient and family at ease about choosing hospice and to gather pertinent information necessary for admission.
6. Speak with patient/family regarding financial obligations and insurance coverage, using knowledge of hospice fees as well as potential insurance reimbursement.
7. Confer with Director of Admissions in circumstances of potential admission where reimbursement sources appear not to cover cost of care to ascertain whether the patient may be admitted on a charitable basis.
8. Develops referring relationships with all market sources.
9. Identifies possible contract relationships and is responsible for establishing contractual relationships in conjunction with Director of Admissions.
10. Complete weekly plans and turn in to Director of Admissions in a timely manner.
11. Complete and submit quarterly reports to Director of Admissions.
12. All signed legal documents are to be fully complete and returned to the Admissions Office within 24 hours of obtaining the signatures.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
2. 3-5 years of direct hospice marketing experience preferred
3. BA preferred
4. A strong desire to work as an integral member of the admissions/marketing team
5. This position reports directly to the Director of Admissions
