Position Overview:
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking a talented and experienced Java Developer to serve as an Application Development Analyst. The consultant will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting business-critical applications within the DEP portfolio, with a primary focus on Java/JEE technologies and Oracle databases.
This role supports stability and ongoing enhancements within a designated Division s applications but may extend to other areas of DEP s IT application landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide maintenance, enhancements, and technical support for various agency business applications.
Collaborate with users and analysts to document requirements and system specifications.
Develop software programs, translating user needs into efficient, scalable applications.
Assist in creating and maintaining user documentation, manuals, and technical guidelines.
Work with cross-functional teams, including network admins and software engineers, to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Mentor and guide junior developers as needed.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
7 years of experience in Java development, including frameworks such as:
Struts/Tiles, Struts 2, Servlets/JSP, JPA/Hibernate
5 years working with Oracle DBMS, proficient in:
Complex SQL queries, PL/SQL, DDL, and DML
3 years experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like:
AngularJS, NodeJS, React, or JQuery
3 years as a full-stack developer
Experience with:
Responsive design (Bootstrap preferred)
Version control (Git preferred)
Continuous integration (Jenkins preferred)
ISDM methodologies
Database tools (TOAD, SQL Developer, SQL Navigator)
Strong knowledge of:
Relational database and object-oriented design
UML and secure database principles (RBAC)
Preferred Experience:
Oracle Certifications
Agile methodologies (Scrum, XP, Kanban)
Virtualization tools (Docker)
GIS systems implementation
RESTful web services development
Familiarity with DEP technical environment
Experience with environmental regulatory processes
Education:
Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related IT field
Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Salary : $60 - $70
