Position Title: Accessibility Specialist
Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid)
Position Type: Contract (1 year)
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
Interview: Virtual MS Teams interview, with potential 2nd round onsite interview
Job Duties:
- Conduct reviews of SOM websites and applications for adherence to digital standards and accessibility guidelines.
- Test for digital accessibility using manual and automated tools (screen readers and assistive technologies).
- Perform testing across desktop and mobile devices and document review results.
- Provide feedback and work with stakeholders and teams to optimize processes.
Requirements:
- A certificate or degree in any field (IT preferred), or equivalent experience.
- Experience in testing for digital accessibility and familiarity with WCAG.
- Expertise with assistive technologies and accessibility evaluation tools (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, WAVE).
- Strong knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA.
- Multilingual skills are a plus.
