Job description:
The Teaching Assistant supports classroom instruction in a juvenile correctional facility, supervising students and ensuring a positive learning environment in the absence of the classroom teacher. Key responsibilities include:
- Classroom Management: Take attendance, monitor behavior, assignments, and maintain daily records.
- Student Support: Guide students in completing assignments and evaluate their progress.
- Collaboration: Work with other departments to enhance the learning environment and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams.
- Reporting: Develop accurate reports and maintain confidentiality.
- Professionalism: Attend training, adhere to policies, and promote positive relationships with students, staff, and external agencies.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to implement lesson plans, manage supplies, and maintain a supportive learning environment.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability skills.
- Successful completion of required training, certifications, and drug tests.
Performs related duties as assigned, under minimal supervision, and reports to the School Principal.
