Network Engineering and Architecture (Advanced)
Role: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Remote / Seattle
Responsibilities:
• Dedicate approximately 75% of the time to advanced network engineering tasks and on-call duties, including managing all edge services and the MPLS mesh in datacenters, overseeing private Azure express route circuits, and administering DNS
services hosted in Azure.
• Allocate around 25% of the time to strategic network architecture and design duties.
• Take a leading role in an on-call Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) rotation to swiftly address and resolve network incidents.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers to integrate advanced network tools for enhanced monitoring, rapid response, and efficient remediation.
• Execute the planning, implementation, and maintenance of routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing to ensure optimal network performance, security, and reliability.
• Proactively troubleshoot and resolve network issues, managing escalations and providing mentorship to junior engineers when necessary.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and provide advanced training to stakeholders to ensure effective network management and incident response.
Skillset:
• 10 years of extensive experience in network engineering, with a strong track record in managing global network infrastructure and implementing enterprise network automation solutions.
• Deep expertise in network protocols, routing, switching, firewall configurations, and overall network infrastructure management.
• Advanced proficiency with network automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Python) for developing and deploying robust automation solutions.
• Significant experience using and configuring network monitoring tools, employing advanced troubleshooting
techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of network security, including VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and best practices for securing network infrastructure.
• Strong ability to create and maintain detailed network documentation.
Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with team members, partner engineering teams, and stakeholders.
