Job Title: Lab Infrastructure Services Engineer

Work Location: Santa Clara, CA

Job Description:

The lab infrastructure services engineer is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the Custom Compute and Solutions (CCS) product labs. The person in this contract position is expected to have a deep understanding of data center management, Perform various tasks on different projects of CCS Engineering labs.

Required Skills:

• 3-5 years of technical experience, in a large-scale data center or IT infrastructure in the engineering lab environment.
• Manage and maintain the lab infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment and HW components
• Experience with standard lab equipment (e.g., Racks, test bed benches, switches, and power supplies)
• In-depth knowledge of System/OS level TCP/IP Networking is a must.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work inside a data center environment
• Must be able to rack-mount servers and connect required cabling
• Must be able to work extended hours inside a data center environment

Desired Skills:

• Familiar with the installation, operation, repair and troubleshooting of data center infrastructure, including LAN TCP/IP knowledge related to problem research.
• Proven experience as a systems or network administrator in a R&D or IT environment.
• Ability to work independently or as a team on repetitive physical tasks without direct supervision after initial on-the-job training on tasks as outlined below:

1. Install, configure, and maintain lab-specific hardware and software applications and tools used by research teams.
2. Document HW setups, and best practices for knowledge sharing and reference.
3. Removal of end-of-life hardware from engineering labs
4. Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).
5. Proficiency in Linux and Windows server administration and troubleshooting.
6. Assist in asset and HW components inventory management (GLPI)
7. Test HW boards and server components
8. Troubleshooting power distribution unit (PDU) and network switch related issues
9. Should be flexible to work with remote teams in India to debug any lab-related issues.
10. General housekeeping of labs
11. Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
