Role Overview

We are searching for a Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) that is interested and committed to longer term freelance consulting work to join our team.

You will be responsible for both developing new business opportunities and delivering top-tier cybersecurity leadership services to our clients. This role requires an experienced cybersecurity expert who can provide strategic guidance, develop comprehensive security policies, and lead a variety of projects designed to help improve overall security program maturity.

You will cultivate relationships with potential clients, prepare proposals, and execute business development strategies to secure new engagements.

In addition to business development, you will serve as the primary point of contact for clients that you onboard. Your expertise will help clients navigate the complex cybersecurity landscape, mitigate risks, and maintain a strong security posture.

This is a fully independent contractor role. You can set your hourly pay rate and receive commissions on projects and solutions you help sell. This offers a great opportunity to expand your footprint with existing clients and build and develop new client relationships.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Business Development :

Identify and develop new client relationships by bringing deep cybersecurity expertise to help solve their most pressing cybersecurity challenges

  • Scope work, prepare and deliver compelling proposals and presentations to secure new contracts
  • Collaborate with other Infogov.com advisors to develop and execute business development strategies
  • Negotiate pricing, statements of work, SLAs and change orders as appropriate
  • Cybersecurity Leadership :
  • Provide strategic cybersecurity guidance and leadership to clients, aligning security initiatives with their business objectives and risk preferences

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive cybersecurity policies, procedures, and programs
  • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and security audits to identify and mitigate potential threats
  • Advise clients on compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards
  • Lead incident response efforts, including investigation, containment, and remediation
  • Provide regular updates and reports to client executives and stakeholders on the status of cybersecurity initiatives and risk posture
  • Client Engagement :
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery and client satisfaction

  • Collaborate with clients to develop and maintain their cybersecurity roadmap and strategy
  • Offer continuous support and advisory services to clients, keeping them informed of emerging threats and best practices
  • Thought Leadership :
  • Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in cybersecurity.

  • Share knowledge and insights through blogs, whitepapers, webinars, and speaking engagements to position yourself and Infogov.com as a thought leader in the cybersecurity space.
  • Qualifications :

  • Proven experience leading engagements for clients and building trusted client relationships
  • Ability to understand a wide variety of security and business-related client needs in a selling process, appropriately scope and develop a project, and build compelling proposals
  • At least 3 years of prior experience directly consulting for clients in a professional services environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years in a security leadership or senior consulting role
  • Direct hands-on experience across multiple domains of cybersecurity
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and best practices
  • Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA are preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
