We operate in a busy, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center providing sterile processing services to 9 facilities. The role requires working with STERIS Washers, Autoclave IT System: SynergyTrak, and other specialized equipment.
Job Description
The Sterilization Specialist will be responsible for dissembling, cleaning, sterilizing, reassembling, and packaging sterile supplies according to specifications and manufacturer instructions. This includes operating various pieces of equipment such as washers, sterilizers, and ultrasonic machines.
Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package sterile supplies according to specifications and manufacturer instructions.
- Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures.
- Adhere to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts.
- Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination.
- Examine instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality.
- Identify malfunctioning items, record related information, and promptly notify supervisor or biomedical engineer.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- 1.5 years experience accepted if tertiary experience; 2 years experience if not preferred.
- Processing certification (CRCST or CSPD) must not expire during term of assignment.
- Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, required.
- Manual dexterity, ability to stand, bend, lift, and/or reach for extended periods, required.
