Supervises theday-to day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants and LPN s. BASIC KNOWLEDGEAND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTSMust possess a current license in PA as a registerednurseMust possess knowledge of : medical asepsis, body mechanics, personalcare of residents, correct use and care of equipment, observation techniques,reporting and recording, thorough knowledge of nursing theory and it'sapplicationMust be willing to possess knowledge of and comply withregulations, policies, procedures, contracts and philosophy of the institutionMust maintain a courteous and professional manner towardresidents, visitors and co-workers and a dedication to meet the needs of theelderlyMust have awareness of cost containment, utilize timefully, and properly care for equipmentMust possess ability to accept and follow written andverbal directivesMust utilize good communication and observation skillsExercise independent judgment and effectively deal withemergency situationsGENERAL DUTIESPhysician's Computer Company : EHR / EMRAdministers and records medication, treatments andmonitoring e.g. glucose checks, as ordered and reports and documents residentresponseAccurately transcribes physician's ordersCompletes monthly summaries as scheduledReviews the care plan with NAs on monthly summary dayand updates the care plan to reflect the resident s current condition.Notifies the RN Supervisor immediately of a significantchange in resident s conditionReports and records changes in resident condition to theRN SupervisorCommunicates resident transfers to immediate family andvia email to department headsCompletes transfer form for all transfersUpdates care plans with clear, concise, time limitedgoals to reflect resident condition and directs team to implement approachesAssists physicians with rounds, examinations andtreatments as neededCollects laboratory specimens e.g. : urine, cultures,stool, etc. and arranges for delivery to Hospital with accurate and completerequisitions. Documents in PCC whenlaboratory work is doneOn resident death, supervises and assists with postmortem procedures. Assists with collection of resident's clothing andbelongings. Notifies all departmentheads of death via email, makes phone calls as directed by RN SupervisorEncourages resident participation in scheduledactivitiesReports to team changes in resident condition, care planchanges and any special assignments to be carried outAssists RN Supervisor with annual evaluations of nursingassistantsAlong with RN Supervisor, writes commendations andcounseling records as neededAccurately completes incident reports or assists teammembers in writing reportDocuments weights and vital signs and follows up asneeded, including reweighing residents if there is a three pound or morediscrepancy from the last weightCleans and stocks treatment trays dailyPrepares daily report for the wingCounts narcotics with another nurse at beginning and endof shiftMaintains an accurate inventory of resident belongings -notes new items brought in and items removed from facilityMaintains work area in clean, orderly condition.Performs housekeeping assignments as scheduledSubmits maintenance requests as neededMaintains a clean, safe and healthy environment andreports potential safety hazardsSupervises and directs resident care by nursingassistants to insure the prescribed plan of care is carried outPerforms additional duties as directed by supervisorAttends care plan conference for residents on assignedwing if requestedAssists in orientation of new nursing staffAdjusts staffing assignments as needed to insure goodresident careConducts team conferences as neededAssures that staff is familiar with changes in policiesand proceduresUpdates the daily census as neededMonitors NA documentation for completeness andcompliance with regulationsCollects data for quality assurance studies as directedMonitors nurse aide job performance for compliance withinfection control practicesProvides direct care for residents as needed, withinrestrictionsSeeks clarification or guidance to perform jobresponsibilities when in doubtDocuments drug disposal on resident charts in PCC.Attends in-services, department and staff meetings,committee meetings as requiredAssist CNA s on the hall as neededDRESS CODEUniforms Any colored scrubsShoes - clean and in good repair - no open toe sandalsHair - cleanSweaters - cardigans, vests of any colorJewelry - no large or dangling earrings or necklaces.No heavy perfumesName tags - worn dailyNo short or jogging pantsPHYSICAL DEMANDSGood physical health and mental alertness to be capableof performing job functions and complete work assignments in a timely mannerAbility to pass employment physicals and as requiredKnowledge of principles of good body mechanicsHave physician permission to perform duties outlined inthe transitional duty job descriptionMust be free of communicable diseaseBenefits (100% employer paid unless candidate takes premium rates) : 401(k)Continuing education creditsDental insuranceDisability insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountFree parkingHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid sick timePaid time off (72 hours / year)Paid trainingTuition reimbursementVision insuranceInterview Process : 1st Interview Phone Screen with CEO2nd Interview with HR, DON, ADON, and CEO (via Zoom Video)3rd interview with members of the team (via Zoom Video) Submission requirements : By submitting your applicant to this need you are acknowledging that you have checked and have no inclination that your candidate has applied directly to this position.
