What are the responsibilities and job description for the Background Investigator - DPS Law Enforcement - Houston, TX position at Information Discovery Services?
The Background Investigator will conduct public trust pre-employment background investigations for various Law Enforcement Agencies, focusing on providing a quality case report on time to the IDS customer.
IDS is looking for Independent Contractor Investigators with at least one year of investigative experience.
This may be either as an intermittent employee or as an independent contractor.
The Independent Contractor must have a current and valid TX Private Investigator's License. Independent Contractor Background Investigators (1099) will be compensated on a completed item basis, not an hourly rate.
The Intermittent Employee (w2) may apply for a TX Private Investigator's License under IDS. The workload will vary, and work will be paid hourly.
Responsibilities of Background Investigators Include:
- Review case papers
- Conduct comprehensive interviews with the subject and sources to establish the subject's reputation, character, and qualifications.
- Write clear, concise reports.
- Provide any required edits or additional information within 48 hours of request
- Monitor pending cases to ensure compliance with due dates
Competencies of Background Investigators Include:
- One year of prior investigative experience
- Ability to manage caseload and meet customer-required deadlines
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Exceptional telephone and in-person etiquette
The workload will vary based on the customer's needs and may require travel within and outside the home area.
