The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.Under the direction of a Manager Information Technology Services 1, SG-27, within the Chief Data Office, Geospatial Services Bureau, Geospatial Enterprise Services team, the Information Technology Specialist 4, SG-25, will oversee the Geospatial Enterprise platform support function.Specific duties include, but are not limited to: • Help with testing processes, troubleshooting, finding resolutions to issues or publishing scenarios, and establishing service publishing best practices. • Train staff on service publishing. • Attend to REQ and INC in ITSM for the resolver group promptly. • Provide server maintenance and support for the Geospatial Enterprise Services as needed for the GIS platform and explore available GIS and server technologies for using and supporting the GIS platform.• Assist in Python scripting, server maintenance, software updates, change control windows, and monitoring and reporting on server environments.• Work to design, install, secure, and maintain spatial databases. • Manage the Geospatial Enterprise Services Geo Jobe product suite offering and assist other Geospatial Services sections access and use of the Geo Jobe product suite offering and all tools' capabilities.• Maintain current and future ArcGIS Online organizations and functions and modules of ArcGIS Online, including delegating or working on user account maintenance, content sharing, group setup, access, and management. • Participate in the analysis, design, test planning, formatting, and layout of data standards as needed for the GIS platform and execute the testing, planning, service creation, and deployment of back-end data structures as needed for the GIS platform.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG25 OR in a position at the SG23 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades. Note: If you are on the examination eligible list for the position title in this location, you do not need to respond to this posting unless you are also eligible for appointment by one of the qualifications listed above. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed.

Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Additional Comments Some positions may require fingerprinting. Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. Details of position(s) will be described further if you are selected for an interview. Positions located in New York City, will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In May 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
